Akuji the Demon

The hero is actually Cloud

Akuji the Demon was an amazing, freeware platform game I fell in love with as soon as I played. Just for fun, I sat down for two days and knocked out a translation for the game. However, I pulled it from distribution shortly after, and after the release of Do-jin Nyuu’s patch, The Home of the Underdogs removed mine from their Akuji package.

Spinner 8 (of all people) was able to provide me with the old Akuji patch I released long ago, which I sat down with for a few days and reworked. This re-release of my old patch has a nicer title screen, and a bit of text was reworded to sound better. Nothing really Earth-shattering.

The storyline has that playful twist of other platform classics like the Ackman series. Fans of Ackman will know exactly what I mean.

Long ago there was the demon who terrorized a country named Akuji. Then some hero came and beat him. The hero married the princess and lived happily ever after. Now Akuji has returned once again and you, the hero’s descendant must defeat him, right?

Introduction

Wrong.

You play as Akuji who’s got quite a lot of built up rage to let out in one major hero ass-kicking. The game revolves around Akuji finding the stones to unseal his powers, then heading after the hero for some payback–demon-style.

The game features two hidden rooms that can be accessed by completing the game within certain time restraints.

An Italian translation of the game exists done by Dark Schneider. His work uses my script as a source.
