Der Langrisser is the second entry in the popular SRPG series by NCS/Masaya and CareerSoft. Several hundred years have passed since Ledin’s reign in Langrisser I. Baldea has fallen, and a new empire is on the rise in El Sallia.

It’s in this world that Erwin, the last descendant of the Baldea line, wandering the land in search of his sword master’s slayer, meets Liana, the maiden of light, who has become a key instrument in a new plot by Böser to revive darkness.

Unlike the first rendition of this story, Langrisser II, Der Langrisser introduces a branching path system, where players can choose the outcome of the game. Players can fight for the side of light, join the Empire to unify the continent, utilize the powers of darkness or set off on their own against all odds to realize their own dream.

A translation of this game first attempted in 1998 by alamone and his group, Warui Toransu. It was dropped in 2000 and their efforts were continued by No-Life Translations from 2000 - 2001 before being dropped again.

This translation represents a new project with entirely original work, aside from Light Path scenarios which Eddie Stemkowski and John “MK” Grathwohl donated from their project.

The hacking work that has been done on this game is sickening. There’s no other way to describe it. No other SNES translation has ever had this level of treatment, and unless someone with an extremely good grasp of the machine ends up unemployed for two years, none ever will. Everything that could be tweaked and improved in the original game has been.
